Edward Joseph Hearn was born in Nashville, Tennessee on June 26, 1949 and lived there for his first fifty years. He attended Tennessee Preparatory School from the fifth grade until graduation in 1967. Afterwards, he graduated from Tennessee Technological University with a major in Business Management. He later worked at a manufacturing/printing business in Nashville for thirty years where he was a very successful outside salesperson and part-owner.

He has two sons, John Edward and Matthew Robert, and two grandchildren, John Owen and Isabella Marie. The decision to retire came for Ed two decades ago, and since then he has lived as part of the Landfall community in Wilmington, North Carolina near the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Before retirement, he lived at the edge of a large, freshwater lake in middle Tennessee, and after retirement he has enjoyed a second home located on a lake near Charlotte, North Carolina.

Ed enjoys playing golf and tennis, boating, fishing, traveling, writing, creating highly-detailed, fine-art sculptures made of wood and bronze, producing acrylic paintings and participating in Masters track and field competitions throughout the United States and around the world.

He has been writing his entertaining and thoughtful short stories for many years in an effort to share his colorful life and varied experiences with both his extended family and other interested individuals.

The motivation for him to write and express his feelings in the form of short stories and memoirs was the result of his telling stories over the years during numerous family get-togethers. The stories were repeated many times to everyone’s enjoyment. He didn’t want them to be lost to future generations and finally decided to sit down and create an extensive collection of his often humorous and interesting memories.

There are additional stories included in some of his books about his reflections and personal philosophy on life. Those are different in that they are more thoughtful, and hopefully contain a bit of wisdom.
